Indestructible French Fries
October 24, 2009
This is a DVD extra from the movie, Supersize Me. This movie is about a man who eats McDonald’s for every meal, everyday for 30 days. Aside from the actual movie, this extra shows how their food decomposes after certain periods of time. He puts a a real burger and fries from a normal restaurant in seperate jars. He then puts different McDonald’s items in seperate jars. All the burgers start decomposing after two weeks, besides the Big Mac. It took over three weeks for the Big Mac to start decomposing. The real shocker is, after the whole experiment, the french fries from McDonald’s did not decompose at all. The french fries from the normal restaurant almost immediately started decomposing. What this shows is that McDonald’s loads their food up with preservatives and chemicals. Imagine putting all these chemicals and preservatives in your body. What does it do in your body?
Tummy Ache
October 24, 2009

Recently I met up with my friend, Santi Arias. I went to his apartment and he was eating 3 Snack Wraps from McDonald’s. They had grilled chicken, ranch dressing, lettuce, and cheese all wrapped up in a tortilla. McDonald’s promotes the Snack Wrap as one of their healthier choices off the menu. He ate it, and we were just talking and playing video games. Within an hour, he got a really bad stomach ache, and it bothered him to the point that he asked me to leave. There is a possibility that it wasn’t the snack wraps, but chances are he got sick from what he ate. What bothers me is he ate what was considered to be healthy from McDonald’s, and he still ended up getting sick. There could be many other factors that lead to the stomach ache, but it leads me to question, if this food is healthy, how could it make someone sick??
Black Taco?
October 20, 2009
That’s correct. Black Taco. Taco Bell just introduced its newest member of the menu, The Black Jack Taco. Who would eat that, right? Well guess what, everybody is buying them! It is only 89 cents, and is on their “Why Pay More!” Value menu. It seems that all fast food restaurants are adopting these value menus and attracting people who want to save some cash flow. But is it healthy? It may not seem so bad, considering it has tomatoes, lettuce, and it isn’t very big at all. The Black Jack Taco has 17 grams of fat! 0.5 of it is trans fat, which is the worst to eat. In addition to the fat, they had to use food coloring just to make it look like that. I’m not a very big fan of fat, or food coloring. So is the Black Jack taco friend, or foe? Foe!
Ew!
October 12, 2009

Have you ever drank toilet water? Hopefully not. Have you ever had a drink at a fast food restaurant with ice in it? Probably. A girl named Jasmine Roberts did a science project for her middle school where she tested the ice given out at the restaurants, and then she tested the toilet water from the same restaurants. 70 percent of the time, she found that the ice was dirtier than the toilet water. The ice had bacteria in it, and some even had E-coli. E-coli comes from human waste… Ew! So next time you eat at your local fast food restaurant, you probably should not get ice with your drink. Or you could just drink the toilet water. It’s up to you!
100% Angus Beef! From New Zealand?
October 11, 2009

McDonald’s just came out with its newest burger in the last 8 years, the Angus Third Pounder. Wouldn’t you assume that the “100% angus beef” that you are eating is beef from the U.S.? Wrong. McDonald’s just signed a contract with New Zealand to have 500,000 kg of angus beef shipped to the U.S for the new Angus Third Pounder burgers. The New Zealand angus they buy is mixed in with the American angus. This shows that we do not know where our food is coming from when eating at fast food companies. I am not saying that the New Zealand angus beef is bad or poor quality, but would you rather eat meat that is from the U.S., or would you rather eat meat from New Zealand and then shipped to the U.S.?
